Details of Warnie's will revealed

<p>The sizeable fortune of the late cricket legend Shane Warne has been revealed in his will. </p> <p>Warnie amassed a sizeable fortune before his untimely death in March 2022, with his estate being worth $20 million (AUD). </p> <p>As detailed in his will, the vast assets will be left to his three children, Summer, Jason and Brooke, according to reports by the <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/national/shane-warne-leaves-bulk-of-20-7-million-estate-to-his-children-20230207-p5cihc.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Sydney Morning Herald</em></a>. </p> <p>The assets will be divided equally between the children, with each of them receiving 31 percent of the late cricketer's estate. </p> <p>The details of his will came from probate records that have just been released in Victoria, which includes his $6.5 million property on the Mornington Peninsula.</p> <p>Warne also left 2 percent of his estate to his brother, Jason Warne, and 2.5 percent each to niece Tyla Warne and nephew Sebastian Warne.</p> <p>The will, which was dated December 3rd 2021, does not leave anything to his ex-wife and mother of his children Simone Callahan.</p> <p>At the time of his death, Warnie has a $1.2 million deposit a property in The Esplanade in St Kilda, $5 million in a Commonwealth Bank account and $1.3 million in personal loans, as well as over $2 million in shares.</p> <p>In the will, Warne left his large car collection to son Jackson, which includes a $350,000 Mercedes-Benz.</p> <p>Fans and friends around the world were shocked at the news in early March 2022 that Warne had collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand.</p> <p>Warnie was farewelled in a star-studded memorial service at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 30th 2022, where his three children unveiled Shane Warne Stand in his honour. </p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

"Health is wealth": How Warnie's son has dealt with the loss of his father

<p dir="ltr">Jackson Warne has candidly opened up about his struggles with grief following the death of his cricketer father. </p> <p dir="ltr">Shane Warne, 52, died of natural causes on March 4 in a luxury villa on the Thailand holiday island of Koh Samui.</p> <p dir="ltr">Almost seven months later, Jackson said that he “could’ve easily gone down hill” after losing his dad, but decided on taking the high road. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I could’ve drank a lot of alcohol, gambled too much, quit the gym, ate shit food and not socialise. Be miserable,” he wrote in his Instagram post.</p> <p dir="ltr">“But I didn’t.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I didn’t because I used this trauma as energy for life. Shane Warne’s daughter blasts Channel Nine for “disrespect”

<p dir="ltr">Shane Warne’s daughter has blasted Channel Nine for their disrespectful advertising of a telemovie just six months after the cricketer’s death.</p> <p dir="ltr">Brooke Warne slammed Channel Nine's announcement of a telemovie about her father as “disrespectful” after his dedication and support for the network.</p> <p dir="ltr">On September 14, she took to Instagram calling them out writing: “Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family? World’s hottest grandma shocks with Shane Warne claim

<p dir="ltr">Gina Stewart, the <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/beauty-style/world-s-hottest-grandma-reveals-paparazzi-hell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">world’s hottest grandma</a> has claimed that she was “quietly” dating Shane Warne.</p> <p dir="ltr">The legendary cricketer, 52, died of natural causes on March 4 in a luxury villa on the Thailand holiday island of Koh Samui.</p> <p dir="ltr">Now six months later, the 52-year-old model has revealed that she and the late cricketer were chatting online for months in 2018 before eventually meeting up. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I have been devastated over the last few months,” she told The Daily Star.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The world lost a legend and I lost a friend and confidante. The unthinkable happened.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I was dating Shane but it wasn’t well-known. Warnie's luxe digs sell for eye-watering price

<p dir="ltr">The luxe $10 million apartment belonging to the late Shane Warne has reportedly been sold.</p> <p dir="ltr">Located in the deluxe Saint Moritz development in St Kilda, in Melbourne's east, the apartment features elements designed by the cricketer, including that No. 23, his Australian cricket shirt number, be embroidered on fittings throughout.</p> <p dir="ltr">According to the <em><a href="https://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/page-13/shane-warnes-10m-st-moritz-st-kilda-apartment-sold-by-his-family-to-secret-buyer/news-story/59948beb2c3003f773c2f0be0f0e37a3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Herald Sun</a></em>, Warne's family arranged for it to be on-sold to a private buyer.</p> <p dir="ltr">The publication reported that a director of clothing brand Cotton On now holds the keys, spending $1 million more than Warne originally did.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Shane was an extraordinary man I cared a lot for and would have loved to have him in the building and his energy,” developer Tim Gurner told the <em>Herald Sun</em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We have been working with the family to assist wherever possible in the sale of his home.</p> <p dir="ltr">“As with all purchasers we won’t comment on who they are due to the number of high profile owners in the precinct.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We are planning a campaign very soon however had a number of buyers interested in Saint Moritz who had missed out so it sold very quickly.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The sale comes amid interest in the $540 million complex from high-profile parties, including AFL personality Sam Newman and businessman Antony Catalano.</p> <p dir="ltr">Its features include a gold class private cinema, a 3000-bottle wine cellar, and a book collection curated by the Queen's librarian which will be shared by residents when construction is completed.</p> <p dir="ltr">It has also claimed the title of one of the most expensive apartment sales in Australia, after Catalano snapped up the complex's penthouse for a hefty $30 million recently.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-04f4a0dc-7fff-4b1d-252b-309272929a09"><em>Images: Instragram, Saint Moritz</em></span></p>

<p>Brooke, Jackson and Summer Warne have all shared touching tributes to their late father Shane, four months on from his untimely death.</p> <p>The cricketing legend's eldest child Brooke shared a throwback photo of herself and her siblings as children with their dad smiling for the camera.</p> <p>Along with the photo, she said, "4 months today".</p> <p>"Feels weird not being around you, especially overseas, you always made everyone's holiday the most enjoyable & special thing ever no matter what we were doing we were always laughing and being silly. We miss you and your laughs and everything, every day Dad."</p> <p>Her brother Jackson also shared an emotional tribute, as he posted a photo of his dad in a hoodie and sunglasses with the caption "Poker face".</p> <p>"This time 4 years ago," Shane's son, 23, remarked in his caption, before touching on his and his dad's shared love of poker and his World Series of Poker debut in Las Vegas.</p> <p>"This trip was meant to be my first time playing in the WSOP main event with my best friend and dad. Missing you so much and wish you were here playing with me. I'll make you proud and get the W."</p> <p>Shane's youngest daughter Summer's tribute featured a more recent picture of her dad and their dog remarking "4 months today".</p> <p>"I miss you more than anything in the world, dad, your laugh, your voice, your smile and your cuddles," the 20-year-old wrote.</p> <p>"Not a day goes by where I still wish this was just a nightmare. Melbourne artist charged over Shane Warne memorial

<p dir="ltr">A Melbourne street artist has been charged over painting a mural of the late cricket legend Shane Warne on the side of an empty house.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jarrod Grech spent over 30 hours painting the mural after Warne’s sudden death in March in an attempt to lift community spirit. </p> <p dir="ltr">The artist had done a number of paintings on the same wall of an empty house in Carlton over the past three years, as had many other street artists in the area. </p> <p dir="ltr">Despite the mural being appreciated by locals, Grech has now been charged by police with “intentionally and without lawful excuse” damaging property by not obtaining the homeowner’s permission.</p> <p dir="ltr">Grech said he painted the mural purely as a sign of respect to Shane Warne and his family.</p> <p dir="ltr">“This is my way of expressing loss,” he told <a href="https://7news.com.au/news/vic/melbourne-street-artist-charged-over-shane-warne-mural-c-7345584">7News</a>.</p> <p dir="ltr">Even Warne’s daughter Summer expressed her love and admiration of the mural as she posted it on Instagram </p> <p dir="ltr">“Looks unreal, did a bloody great job,” she wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He would love it too.”</p> <p dir="ltr">After seeing Summer’s reaction, Grech said having her approval of his art meant the world to him. </p> <p dir="ltr">“It makes me feel a lot better about the charges, like it makes it feel like it’s worth doing to make them happy,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">Street art advocate Dean Sunshine, whose own factory acts as an outdoor gallery for artists, said the charges against Grech are hypocritical.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We live in Melbourne which prides itself on a huge street art scene, and people are doing murals all over town so I just couldn’t believe it,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: Instagram</em></p>

One side-splitting moment made crowd lose it at Shane Warne’s memorial

<p dir="ltr">Amid feelings of joy and teary despair, there was one moment at Shane Warne’s memorial service that saw the crowd erupt with laughter, per <em><a href="https://www.news.com.au/sport/cricket/moment-that-made-the-crowd-lose-it-at-shane-warnes-memorial/news-story/ae03125ea937033e231e46399634d7c9" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news.com.au</a></em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">A panel of Warnie’s good friends - including former St Kilda player Aaron Hamill - were asked about his fashion choices, including the Peaky Blinders inspired hats he had been wearing in recent years.</p> <p dir="ltr">Hamill explained how the late cricketer’s love of old school hats led to him making an unusual request.</p> <p dir="ltr">“[Shane] said, ‘I’ve got this great idea’, as he always did,” Hamill recalled.</p> <p dir="ltr">Warne decided to email the producers of Peaky Blinders, which follows a family of gangsters in 1900s England, to say that he was a keen fan of the show and ask if he could be on it.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So he did that and he rang me back and said, ‘I got the email back’,” Hamill continued. “I said, ‘Please, read it out to me’.</p> <p dir="ltr">“‘Dear Shane, thanks very much. We love your enthusiasm, but unfortunately porcelain veneers weren’t around in Birmingham in 1931. But we love your support. Thank you very much.’”</p> <p dir="ltr">With many fans likely picturing Warne’s great big smile in their minds, they burst out laughing.</p> <p dir="ltr">“But that’s what he was like,” Hamill said. “He was ambitious. He was driven. He wouldn’t take no for an answer.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The panel, hosted by Andy Lee, attracted the most laughs the whole night, which saw more than 55,000 gather at the MCG while a billion people watched it from around the world.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He would be gobsmacked by this,” footy great Sam Newman said of the memorial while he appeared on the panel alongside cricketer Dimitri Mascarenhas, and comedian and actor Glenn Robbins.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ll tell you what, I’m finding it hard to get over, the United Nations are a part of this.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I thought, ‘that is extraordinary. He’s actually infiltrated the United Nations and they are here. That is staggering.’”</p> <p dir="ltr">A United Nations representative spoke earlier in the service of Warne’s involvement with a wildlife conservation initiative called The Lion’s Share. They also announced a new “Shane Warne conservation grant” to “memorialise his service and catalyse more action”.</p> <p dir="ltr">As much as there were laughs during the night, there were also plenty of tears and spine-tingling moments.</p> <p dir="ltr">MC Eddie McGuire read out a letter written by Warne’s brother Jason 30 years ago, in which he predicted the legacy Warne would leave behind.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Now is the time to put everything, and I mean everything, into it and make it work for you,” the letter said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So, come on, make some more sacrifices and give people the opportunity in 20 years’ time to say ‘Remember Shane Warne. We’ll never get another leggie like him. He was the best spinner Australia ever had’.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Warne’s three children - Summer, Jackson and Brooke - also spoke about their love for their dad and how much they missed him, and fans could be seen wiping away tears.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It has been exactly 26 days since you went to heaven and I miss you more than anything in the whole world,” Summer said, as the first of the three to speak to the crowd.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that you won’t be able to walk me down the aisle on my special day. You’re not going to meet your grandchildren that you’re going to have someday, but instead you will be someone I will tell my kids about and how much of an amazing father you were to me. Warnie's memorial service is today: What you need to know

<p>Almost a month on from the sudden death of cricketer Shane Warne, the Spin King will be honoured with a celebration in the heart of Melbourne at the MCG, in front of fans and family alike.</p> <p>Those closest to Warne farewelled him at a private service earlier this month and those wishing to pay their respects can now watch or attend a state memorial service today.</p> <p><strong>When and where is the service?</strong><br />The service will be at the MCG, home to some of Warne's greatest cricketing triumphs.<br />The gates of the MCG are due to open at 5:30 pm for a 7 pm start, and the state memorial service is scheduled to run for about two hours.</p> <p>A stage will be set up on the grounds of the MCG and upwards of 40,000 people are expected to fill the stadium's stands. The service will feature performances, tributes and reflections recognising Warne's big personality and charisma as well as his enormous contributions to Australian sport.</p> <p><strong>Who will be attending?</strong><br />A long and impressive list of high-profile people will take part in the service, but not everyone will appear in person. Some guests and performers will appear either via live video links or pre-recorded segments.</p> <p>Musical entertainment will be a huge part of the service. Performers are expected from those Warne counted among his friends including Elton John, Chris Martin, Robbie Williams and Ed Sheeran. Local acts will include Anthony Callea and musician Jon Stevens, slated to perform covers of "bangers" that were among Warne's favourites, including songs by INXS and Noiseworks. Kylie and Dannii Minogue will also be part of the proceedings, but it's unclear whether or not they will perform.</p> <p>The biggest names in cricket in Australia and overseas will take part, including Wasim Akram, Allan Border, Ian Botham, Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Clarke, Stephen Fleming, Merv Hughes, Nasser Hussain, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Glenn McGrath and Mark Taylor.</p> <p>AFL great Dermott Brereton and Aaron Hamill, a long-time close friend of Warne, will take part, as will actors Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Other prominent people making appearances are golfer Greg Norman, surfer Kelly Slater and comedian Andy Lee.</p> <p>The people most important to Warne, his immediate family, will also speak as part of the evening's proceedings. His three children, Brooke, Jackson and Summer, his father Keith and brother Jason are due to appear on stage.</p> <p><strong>Can I still get a ticket?</strong><br />More than 50,000 tickets have already been nabbed, but another 10,000 spots were released through the MCG website on Wednesday.</p> <p>Tickets to the event are free and in recognition of Warne's contributions to the game, his family requested that fans come along to the memorial dressed in their cricket gear.</p> <p><strong>How can I watch it?</strong><br />Eddie McGuire, who will MC the event, said all free-to-air TV channels will be broadcasting the service, there will be radio channels airing it as well, and there will be multiple places to live stream the proceedings online. Coverage will begin on ABC News Channel and on iview from 6:30 pm AEDT, with the memorial broadcast live on ABC Local Radio (except SA and Perth metro) and ABC Sport Digital.</p>

Raise a glass: Warne farewelled in intimate ceremony

<p dir="ltr">Cricketing legend Shane Warne has been farewelled by his closest friends and family in a private ceremony at the grounds of his favourite footy club.</p> <p dir="ltr">Around 80 gathered at St Kilda Football Club on Sunday, with guests encouraged to don St Kilda scarves in honour of Warne's lifelong association with the club.</p> <p dir="ltr">The service ended with a final lap for Warnie around the Moorabbin Oval, the homeground of The Saints AFL team, to the <em>Dirty Dancing</em> hit <em>(I've Had) The Time of My Life</em>. <p dir="ltr">Ed Sheeran has paid tribute to his friend Shane Warne with a few classic Warnie memories, almost two weeks since he was found dead.</p> <p dir="ltr">The legendary cricketer, 52, died of natural causes on March 4 in a luxury villa on the Thailand holiday island of Koh Samui.</p> <p dir="ltr">Speaking to The Project, the British musician fondly recalled the moment they met in 2014, at Warnie’s Club 23 in Melbourne which closed down in 2019.</p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Ed Sheeran is coming back to Australia and he reveals to us why playing the MCG is top of his bucket list. I've got some friends that are huge into cricket, and he just offered one day like, ‘Do you want me to take them to the nets at Lord's [in London]?’</p> <p dir="ltr">“You guys know - the heart of that bloke was so big, and he's just such a lovely person inside and out. There's so many stories like that.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The following year, Ed was on his first Australian tour for Shape of You when he met up with Warnie again. </p> <p dir="ltr">“He took me in the nets at the MCG. <p>The family of Shane Warne have reportedly requested that The Great Southern Stand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground be renamed the Shane Warne stand.</p> <p>This request comes just days after it was earlier announced the seating block would be called the S.K. <p>Jackson Warne has shared an emotional tribute to his late father with a series of unseen photos from moments they shared together. </p> <p>The 23-year-old posted the clip on TikTok on Thursday night, almost a week after the 52-year-old's sudden death in Thailand.</p> <p>The video included a number of images of the pair bonding over the last two decades, set to Coldplay's emotional hit song Yellow. </p> <p>Jackson captioned the clip, "Memories of dad. Shane Warne's haunting final steps captured on CCTV

<p>Haunting final images of Shane Warne moments before he died of a heart attack show the cricketing legend appearing happy and relaxed as he strolled through his luxurious Thailand villa.</p> <p>Warne’s final steps walking through the lobby of the Samujana Villa on the island of Koh Samui were captured on CCTV, as he carried new shirts from his favourite local tailor.</p> <p>A short video captured Warne dressed casually in black shorts, a white T-shirt and a cap with several new shirts draped over his arm.</p> <p>He seemed relaxed as he returned to the villa about 1:30pm, where he was staying with his business manager Andrew Neophitou and three friends.</p> <p>It is believed Warne had ventured out and spent almost an hour at the Briony Tailor where he was fitted for new suits. Just hours later at 5:15pm, the sports legend was found face down and unresponsive on his bed following a heart attack.</p> <p>Warne’s family have revealed he had been suffering with heart troubles and asthma in the weeks leading up to his death, and had also completed a 14-day liquid only diet.</p> <p>Thai police confirmed the 52-year-old’s body will be flown home from Thailand on Thursday morning as it was revealed his public memorial will be held on the 30th of March.</p> <p>The 52-year-old’s body was transferred to Bangkok where it underwent an autopsy and is currently being held at Bangkok Police Station’s mortuary.</p> <p>He will now be flown by private jet from Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok at 8 am local time, and will arrive in Australia by Thursday evening.</p> <p>Warne’s state funeral will take place on the 30th of March, after a private family service is expected to be held towards the end of next week.</p> <p><em>Image: CCTV</em></p>

Concerned about your risk of a heart attack? Here are 5 ways to improve your heart health

<p>The news of Shane Warne’s untimely death of a suspected heart attack at the age of only 52 years has left many cricket fans reeling.</p> <p>Heart disease is the leading cause of death in <a href="https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/health/causes-death/causes-death-australia/latest-release#australia-s-leading-causes-of-death-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Australia</a> – and worldwide, including in the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">United States</a>, where two in ten people who die of heart disease are <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/facts.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">aged under 65</a>.</p> <p>Heart disease is highly preventable, so it’s never too early to consider what you can do to improve the health of your heart. Here are five evidence-based ways to do this.</p> <p><strong>1. So if they’re recommended for you, using them long-term is an effective way to reduce your risk.</p> <p>However, a <a href="https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2016/204/8/absolute-risk-cardiovascular-disease-events-and-blood-pressure-and-lipid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> using data from 2012 found around 76% of Australians aged 45 to 74 years at high risk of a first-time heart attack or stroke weren’t using these life-saving treatments.</p> <p>Diabetes is another important <a href="https://www.heartfoundation.org.au/heart-health-education/diabetes-and-heart-disease#:%7E:text=Over%20time%2C%20high%20blood%20sugar,diabetes%20also%20have%20CVD1." target="_blank" rel="noopener">cause of heart disease</a>. Your GP will be able to guide you about whether or not you need a check for diabetes.</p> <p>If you have diabetes, your GP will help to ensure it’s managed well, to reduce your risk of heart disease.</p> <p><strong>2. Quit smoking</strong></p> <p>Although Australia has some of the lowest smoking rates in the world, <a href="https://www.aihw.gov.au/getmedia/b0cbb555-ebec-4bc1-8ca1-0d6b567e321f/aihw-phe-271-NDSHS-2019-in-brief.pdf.aspx?inline=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">around 11%</a> of Australians still smoke daily.</p> <p>Smoking damages blood vessels and contributes to the underlying processes that lead to heart disease.</p> <p>People who are current smokers are around <a href="https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-019-1351-4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two times</a> as likely to have a heart attack or stroke than people who have never smoked.</p> <p>A <a href="https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-015-0281-z" target="_blank" rel="noopener">landmark Australian study</a> showed people who smoked died around ten years earlier than people who have never smoked, and up to two-thirds of ongoing smokers died from their habit.</p> <p>But quitting smoking can reverse these effects. Quitting at any age was found to be beneficial – the earlier the better. In the long term, those who quit before the age of 45 had a <a href="https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-015-0281-z" target="_blank" rel="noopener">similar life expectancy</a> as people who had never smoked.</p> <p><strong>3. Improve your nutrition</strong></p> <p>In Australia, poor diet, excess weight and obesity are <a href="http://ihmeuw.org/5pee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leading causes</a> of heart disease.</p> <p>However, many popular diets are not supported by science.</p> <p>A healthy diet is important for heart health. For most people, small <a href="https://www.heartfoundation.org.au/heart-health-education/healthy-eating" target="_blank" rel="noopener">changes to your diet</a>, such as increasing your intake of fruit, vegetables and wholegrains and reducing salt intake, can have large benefits.</p> <p>For suggestions on healthier alternatives when you’re grocery shopping, try The George Institute’s <a href="https://www.georgeinstitute.org/projects/foodswitch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FoodSwitch</a> app.</p> <p><strong>4. Cut your salt</strong></p> <p>On average, Australians consume almost twice the World Health Organization’s recommended <a href="https://www.who.int/data/gho/indicator-metadata-registry/imr-details/3082" target="_blank" rel="noopener">daily maximum of 5g salt</a>.</p> <p><a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23558162/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Randomised trials</a> of salt reduction show clear effects on reducing blood pressure, a leading contributor to heart disease.</p> <p>To reduce your salt intake, you can try reducing the amount of processed foods you eat and cutting down on the amount of salt you add to your food.</p> <p>Salt substitutes, although not widely available on supermarket shelves, can <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2105675" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also play a role</a>. New details revealed for Shane Warne's state funeral

Your daddy worshipped you 💗.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Summer replied: “Love u so much.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Damien Hurley and Summer's brother Jackson also replied to her tribute with supportive messages.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I love you Summer, I’m always going to be here for you 💗,” her brother wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I love you so much,” Damien commented.</p> <p dir="ltr">It is expected Warnie will be farewelled at the MCG on Wednesday March 30, with a private family ceremony expected to be held at the end of next week.</p> <p dir="ltr">Though detailed discussions have been held with the Melbourne Cricket Club, all plans are on hold until the cricketer’s body is repatriated.</p> <p dir="ltr">As Thai authorities work through their official processes to release his remains, which they have fast-tracked, it is expected Warne’s body will be picked up on Wednesday.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is assisting the family of Shane Warne with the return of his body to Australia,” DFAT said in a statement.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Owing to the family’s request for privacy, we will not be providing further comment.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Though unauthorised to speak publicly, three sources with detailed knowledge of the plan for Warne’s memorial have confirmed that March 30 was the favoured date, per the <em><a href="https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/shane-warne-mcg-memorial-set-for-march-30-as-cricket-stars-body-flown-home-in-private-jet/news-story/643e8ba3fa19ca6038079bb9e28a8f2b?utm_source=DailyTelegraph&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Editorial&utm_content=DT_PREM-AM_CUR_02&net_sub_id=325889887&type=free_text_block&position=1&overallPos=5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Telegraph</a></em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">Holding the service on March 29 was the subject of some discussions, but its clash with the federal budget would have prevented Prime Minister Scott Morrison and other senior Canberra figures from attending.</p> <p dir="ltr">Family plans are also unconfirmed, though the end of next week was the early favoured option.</p> <p dir="ltr">Eddie McGuire, who worked with Warne to create the Melbourne Stars, has been tipped to be the master of ceremonies at the state service, while a VIP guest list could include close friends of Warne such as singer Ed Sheeran.</p> <p dir="ltr">Sheeran spoke to Warne in the days leading up to his death where they mourned the anniversary of music promoter Michael Gudinski’s passing.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The world keeps taking incredible people away,” Sheeran said following Warne’s death.</p> <p dir="ltr">He was granted an exemption from Australia’s tough border rules to attend Gudinski’s funeral, and has a break between gigs in the UK in which he could potentially attend Warne’s service.</p> <p dir="ltr">However, a full list of speakers and confirmation of any musical acts is still to be confirmed.</p> <p dir="ltr"><span id="docs-internal-guid-001a662e-7fff-7c50-0b45-de370ee733f8"></span></p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: @ShaneWarne (Twitter)</em></p>
